Australia is one of the world’s most successful nations when it comes to masters hockey, enjoying a number of outstanding accomplishments in recent years. At the Masters World Cup in Rotterdam in 2014, Australia’s women took home gold in the Over 40 and Over 60 age groups, and silver in the Over 50s. Australia’s men also enjoyed considerable success, winning gold in the Over 40 and Over 45 age groups, and bronze in the Over 50 and Over 55 competitions.

Canberra has a mild humid temperate climate with warm summers and no dry season. The area within 40 km of this station is covered by forests (38%), grasslands (31%), croplands (25%), lakes and rivers (3%), and built-up areas (3%).

The month of April is characterised by falling daily high temperatures, with daily highs decreasing from 22°C to 18°C over the course of the month, exceeding 26°C or dropping below 15°C only one day in ten.

There are various types of public transport in Canberra.

Bus - Action Buses
Canberra's public bus service, ACTION Buses, services major tourist sites and their regular service routes link the city, through town centre interchanges, to the suburbs.

The nearest bus stop to the competition venue is 4548 (arriving from the city) or 4547 (departing to the city).
Passengers can purchase a single or daily cash ticket on board the bus from the driver. All single fares entitle passengers to a free 90 minute transfer period. This enables you to connect to a different bus using the same ticket if within 90 minutes of purchasing your ticket. Daily tickets are valid until midnight on the day of purchase.

Taxi / Cab 

Canberra taxis and cabs service the airport, train station, and bus terminus at Jolimont Centre, the city, suburbs and surrounding region.
To catch a taxi in Canberra, use a taxi rank where cars park ready for dispatch or phone one of the cab services to book a vehicle.

Airport Transfers – Airport Express
The Airport Express shuttle bus offers airport-city-airport services daily during peak periods. Cost is just $12 one way and $20 return. 
Tickets can be purchased direct from the bus driver (EFTPOS or cash), pre-booked at or by calling 1300 368 897.
The bus stop is located kerbside upon exiting the arrivals hall.

Please note: The Airport Express does not operate Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Uber in Canberra
Uber drivers are operating across Australia's capital city. You can find a ride and learn more on the Uber Canberra website. Download the app from the iTunes store, on Google Play or Microsoft Store


The managers briefing will be held on Monday 28 March commencing at 2pm in the Carter Brown Bar of the Hockey Centre in Lyneham. At this meeting the tournament director, facilities managers and event staff will provide an overview of all relevant tournament specific information.

Onsite Sports Physiotherapy Clinic (Powerhouse Physiotherapy) available at the Hockey Centre in Lyneham. 

This clinic will be minimising private clients during the event to leave as much space open for any masters athletes that wish to seek treatment during the course of the tournament. They will also be providing approximately 10 massage therapists during the tournament for bookings as required.

Team rates will be offered which is a $20 discount from their normal services.

Follow up $95
Massage rates will be $20 per 10 minutes.

If teams would like to lock a provider in for a longer term arrangement i.e. for the duration of the week, this is also available.
