Biography

Chris Ciriello, known as the ‘Big Dog or Italian Stallion’ by his fellow Kookaburras, has had a long family history in hockey. Sparking the hockey bug under the Ciriello name before moving to Australia, Chris’s grandfather played in the Indian squad.

A prolific drag flicker, Ciriello won the Kookaburras gold at the 2015 World League semi-final in Belgium after netting the only goal of the match against the hosts, only seconds before the final siren.

With a passion for health and fitness, he developed a personal training business after completing his PT qualification. Willing to put in the hard yards, Chris spends his time designing programs and managing the business in and around his hockey commitments.

Having met his wife Heidi - an environmental scientist, zoologist and science teacher - in Western Australia, Victorian Chris has made himself at home in Perth with a relaxing lifestyle close to the beach.
