Biography

A twin, goalkeeper Tyler Lovell played alongside his brother Mathew at their local Perth hockey club, Kalamunda, from the age of five. At the age of 15 he moved to his current club YMCC to play in the Western Australia premier division.

Lovell started 2016 off in style, tying the knot with his partner Josie at the Mandoon Estate in Western Australia in front of family and friends, before jumping on a plane to India for six weeks to play in the Coal Hockey India League with the Ranchi Rays.

After completing high school he went straight into full time work in a sales and marketing role. Currently working for RMEM Engineering, sales and marketing is a career path that he wishes to continue with after hockey.

Lovell was heavily involved in cricket during his childhood and teenage years, playing for Forrestfield and Perth cricket club. He still enjoys his cricket and often joins teammates and friends for a round or two of golf.

Graciously given the name ‘Show bags’ by his club teammates, it’s a name that has stuck with him throughout his hockey career.
