AHL 2009
The Australian Hockey League (AHL) is Australia's premier domestic hockey competition. In 2009 The AHL competition will consist of 16 teams, eight (8) Men’s and eight (8) Women’s each playing in one-pool competitions. Both competitions will consist of seven rounds of regular competition followed by two rounds of finals. Rounds 1-4 of the Women's and Men's AHL will be played in various loations throughout Australia from February 27 - March 22 (Women) and March 6 - 29 (Men) respectively. Rounds 5-7 and the two rounds of finals for the Women's AHL will be played in Melbourne from March 30 - April 5 and rounds 5-7 and the two rounds of finals for the Men's AHL will be played in Hobart from April 6-12. 

While all teams will be vying for the AHL championship, players have an extra incentive during the AHL, with national squad selection for the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos set to be announced at the conclusion of the AHL.
