Development/Junior Squads

Hockey Australia's development and junior squads exist to prepare athletes for the next step in international hockey, the senior team.

Under the guidance of the High Performance Unit these squads are designed to develop the depth of hockey in Australia with regular international tours to find the next elite players for the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos.

The Junior Squad also competes in the Junior World Cup, every four years. This tournament is for those 21 years or under. Our two Junior World Cup teams, the Jillaroos (women) and Burras (men), have continually finished in the top four with the Burras winning the trophy in 1997.
