The Australian Government is a strong supporter of Australian sport. The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the government body that develops, manages and invests in sport at all levels in Australia.

The ASC works closely with a range of sports, state and local governments, schools and community groups to ensure sport is well run and accessible so that everyone can participate and enjoy the benefits. It also works through the Australian Institute of Sport and state and territory institutes and academies, to develop Australia’s elite sportsmen and women.

The ASC strives to uphold the integrity of sport through innovative programs that promote ethical sporting practices and improve access to sporting quality opportunities for all Australians.

ASC funding enables Hockey Australia to conduct the following programs/initiatives:

• The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Hockey programs
• International Competition
• National Training Centres in each State/Territory
• The Hook in2 Hockey participation growth program
• Coaching and Officiating programs
• The High Performance Unit

The AOC is the National Olympic Committee for Australia and is responsible for the development and promotion of the Olympic Movement.  The AOC provides assistance for Hockey Australia to fund international competition for the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, and works to ensure the best preparation possible is undertaken by our hockey teams for Olympic competition.

The ACGA provide assistance and support to hockey’s elite teams and is aiming to ensure that Australia sends strong team to the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games where both the Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams will defend their Melbourne 2006 Gold Medals.  The ACGA’s support allows Hockey Australia to field strong teams, developed by world class coaching methods, and produce strong performances in international competitions.
 

The Western Australian Government through its Department of Sport and Recreation is a significant financial supporter of the Hockey Australia High Performance Program currently based at the Perth Hockey Stadium, enabling the Australian Institute of Sport programs for hockey to remain in Western Australia until the end of 2024.

A loyal supporter of hockey for more than a decade, Kookaburra Sport is the Official Supplier of Hockey Balls to Hockey Australia and travel equipment to the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.  They have recently furthered their involvement in the sport as the official equipment supplier of HA’s participation growth program Rookey and national recruitment program, Hook in2 Hockey.   Kookaburra Sport is the manufacturer of the ‘Dimple Hockey Ball’ – the only hockey ball approved by the International Hockey Federation for international competition.
