Players selected for Jillaroos camp in Brisbane

A 19-player squad has been announced to attend a Jillaroos training camp in Brisbane later this year.
The Jillaroos (Australia’s Junior (Under 21) Women’s Team) are gearing up for world hockey’s showpiece women’s Under 21 event, the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 to be held in Santiago, Chile from 29 November - 10 December.
Dates and further details of the Brisbane camp are to be confirmed, however it will be another crucial part of the Jillaroos’ Junior World Cup preparations.
Jillaroos Head Coach Stacia Strain said the camp would provide an update on how the athletes are developing and progressing in their respective National Training Centres, while also continuing to hone the Jillaroos’ way of play.
“Congratulations to the athletes selected. With limited opportunities to assemble before November, this camp will be an important step towards selection of our Junior World Cup team and our goal to win the tournament,” said Strain.
“We are grateful to the Queensland Academy of Sport and Hockey Queensland for the opportunity to hold this camp.”
“Every time we bring a Jillaroos group together and work with them is invaluable, not only in the lead up to the Junior World Cup, but also ensuring these athletes continue to improve and are on the right path to be vying for Hockeyroos selection if and when the time comes.”
An Australian team has never won the Junior Women’s World Cup in its nine editions dating back to 1989.
Pending national squad commitments, additional athletes may be added to the list for the camp.
