Vale Michael Craig

Published Tue 21 Nov 2023

Hockey Australia is mourning the passing of Life Member and former Kookaburra Michael Craig. He was 92.

The 165th player capped for the Kookaburras, Mike made his debut at the 1960 Rome Olympics where he captained Australia’s men’s hockey team.

Mike worked tirelessly over decades across all levels of hockey both in Australia and overseas, but especially in his home state of Victoria.

Mike was awarded Hockey Australia Life Membership in 2016 and was named in Camberwell Hockey Club’s Team of the Century.

Mike’s passing follows that of fellow Olympian Dennis Kemp, who died last week also at the age of 92.

Hockey Australia sends it deepest condolences to Mike’s family and those who had the pleasure of knowing Mike during his life.
