Coaches & Officials Required to Register in 2026

Thu 29 Jan 2026

From 2026, all hockey coaches and officials in Australia will be required to be registered via RevSport, as part of Hockey Australia’s commitment to strengthening support, development and safeguarding across the sport.

This initiative aligns with the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) Data Charter and ensures Hockey Australia can accurately capture, support and recognise everyone involved in coaching and officiating — not just those registered as players.

Why registration matters

Registering coaches and officials allows Hockey Australia to build a clear, national picture of the coaching and officiating workforce and supports a more consistent and high-quality hockey experience for everyone.

Registration helps Hockey Australia to:
•    Build a complete picture of the national coaching and officiating workforce
•    Provide better support, education and safeguarding
•    Ensure individuals are recognised for the roles they perform
•    Strengthen compliance with national standards
•    Improve pathways, development opportunities and communication
•    Create safer and more inclusive hockey environments

Ultimately, this approach ensures hockey is better resourced, better supported and better connected at every level.

What’s changing in 2026

Coaching & Official Registration Classes

Dedicated registration classes for coaches and officials will continue to be available at the point of registration via RevSport. This ensures coaching and officiating roles are clearly identified and accurately captured across the country.

Centralised Appointment Tracking

Hockey Australia is also working towards ensuring all coach and official appointments for State and National Championships are recorded within the platform. This process has already begun at the national level and will progressively extend across states to ensure a consistent, whole-of-sport approach.

Who needs to register?

If you are involved in hockey in any of the following roles, you will need to be registered in 2026:
•    Coach (at any level)
•    Official / Umpire
•    Technical Official

If you are a player and also coach or officiate

You can simply select your additional roles during the registration process in RevSport (for example: coach, official or volunteer).

If you coach or officiate and do not play

You will still need to register via RevSport under the appropriate coaching or officiating registration class.

How to register

Step 1

Visit your Member Association or club’s RevSport registration page.

Step 2

Select the appropriate registration option:
•    Player (if applicable), and
•    Coach and/or Official registration class

Step 3

Indicate all roles you perform within hockey during the registration process.

Step 4

Complete your registration before the start of the season, training or competition, in line with your state or league requirements.

How clubs and associations can help

Hockey Australia is working closely with Member Associations to ensure a smooth national rollout. Clubs and associations can support the initiative by:
•    Including coach and official registration requirements in affiliation and competition documentation
•    Communicating registration requirements clearly to clubs and participants
•    Encouraging all coaches and officials to register before training and competition commence
•    Sharing any state-specific requirements to ensure national alignment

Coaching & Official Registration Classes

Dedicated registration classes for coaches and officials will continue to be available at the point of registration via RevSport. Member Associations and their affiliated clubs will be responsible for creating and maintaining the relevant coaching and officiating registration and payment classes within their registration systems, ensuring all roles are accurately captured.

This national approach supports consistency across states and territories, improves visibility of coaching and officiating participation, and helps ensure all non-playing roles within hockey are appropriately recognised and supported.

Supporting coaches and officials

This initiative is about more than compliance — it’s about recognising the vital role coaches and officials play in hockey and ensuring they receive the support, education and resources they deserve.

By registering, coaches and officials help Hockey Australia build a stronger, safer and more connected hockey community for everyone.
