Hockey Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of David Wansbrough to the Hockey Australia Board.

Hockey Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of David Wansbrough OAM OLY to the Hockey Australia Board, bringing extensive experience across elite high-performance sport, governance, stakeholder engagement and financial management.
Wansbrough joined the Board effective 30 July 2026 and will serve as a Director through to the Hockey Australia Annual General Meeting in May 2027.
An experienced Board Director, Wansbrough brings a strong understanding of the Australian sporting landscape, complemented by significant commercial and financial experience gained through his work with high-level organisations.
He also has a longstanding connection to hockey and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the sport as Hockey Australia continues to focus on strengthening and growing the game across the country.
Hockey Australia Acting CEO David Thompson welcomed Wansbrough to the Board and said his combination of sporting and commercial experience would be a valuable addition to the organisation.
“David brings an impressive breadth of experience across high-performance sport, governance, financial management and stakeholder engagement, together with a genuine passion for hockey,” Thompson said.
“As we continue to work towards the ambitions outlined in Hockey Australia’s strategic direction and maximise the opportunities ahead of us, including Brisbane 2032, having strong and diverse experience around the Board table is incredibly important.
“David has a deep understanding of our sport and the broader Australian sporting environment, and we look forward to the contribution he will make to Hockey Australia and hockey across the country.”
Wansbrough’s appointment follows the resignation of Brent Clark as a Hockey Australia Director on 17 July 2026, after almost five years on the Board.
Clark has stepped down following his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Hockey ACT.
Hockey Australia thanks Clark for his significant dedication, commitment and contribution throughout his time as a Director and wishes him every success in his new role.
Hockey Australia looks forward to continuing its strong relationship with Clark and Hockey ACT as he begins the next chapter of his involvement in Australian hockey.
Wansbrough will serve on the Hockey Australia Board until the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in May 2027.
