Expressions now open: Host a Hockey Australia Championship in 2028

Hockey Australia is inviting Expressions of Interest to host our 2028 National Championship events. This round follows the strategic Event Allocation Framework introduced for the 2027–2028 cycle and beyond, and Expressions of Interest are now open for events held from 1 January to 31 December 2028.

This process creates a clearer, fairer, and more strategic approach to event hosting, aimed at supporting participation growth, enhancing community impact, reducing costs, and building stronger partnerships with Hosts and governments across Australia.

Whether you're a Member Association, club, local association, or venue operator, if you have the infrastructure, capability, and passion to deliver a high-quality championship event, we want to hear from you.

If you previously submitted an EOI for a 2028 event during the earlier process, you only need to resubmit if there have been material changes or improvements to your submission. This helps streamline the process and ensures your latest details are considered.

Our framework:

• Prioritises early calendar release to support planning and reduce costs
• Encourages equitable geographic distribution over time
• Supports hosts who can secure or attract government and council funding
• Focuses on infrastructure quality, delivery readiness, and resourcing
• Emphasises community engagement, especially with juniors and schools
• Provides a streamlined two-stage EOI process to reduce admin burden

EOIs are now open for the 2028 national event cycle, covering U14, U16, U18, U21, Country, Men’s Masters, Women’s Masters, and Indoor Championships. The initial EOI is short and simple — designed to assess interest and suitability without unnecessary paperwork.
