FIH Pro League in Hobart with an unmissable two weeks of action
Published Wed 17 Sep 2025
The FIH Pro League is returning to Australia for the second consecutive year, with Hockey Australia, in partnership with the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, today unveiling Hobart will host two blockbuster stages of Season Seven.
For the first time in FIH Pro League history, Australia will host back-to-back FIH Pro League stages, and it’s being made possible by a record-breaking investment from the Tasmanian Government, underscoring its commitment as a hockey stronghold and further elevating the state as a premier destination for elite international sport.
Eight of the best teams in the world are set to tour down under to take on Australia’s best, the Hockeyroos and the current FIH Pro League men’s defending champions, the Kookaburras, for two weeks of non-stop international hockey action.
The announcement follows a record-breaking FIH Pro League stage in Sydney earlier this year, where the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos upset the Olympic champion Netherlands and Olympic silver medallists China, in front of record-setting crowds at Sydney Olympic Park over six days of action.
Hockey Australia CEO David Pryles says securing two stages of the FIH Pro League here in Australia is a major coup for Australian hockey.
“This year’s FIH Pro League in Sydney once again highlighted how successful the League is here in Australia. International teams relish a summer ‘down under’, and we’re thrilled to bring that energy back to Tasmania—a proud hockey heartland.
“I’m looking forward to seeing fans from across the country experience two weeks of world-class hockey. There’s no better spectacle than seeing the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras playing right here on home turf. We look forward to welcoming 4 women and 4 men’s teams to Hobart and showcasing the wonderful Tasmanian hospitality”
“I would like to thank Minister for Tourism, Hospitality & Events Jane Howlett and the Tasmanian Government for making it possible to host an international event of this magnitude and for their ongoing support of Hockey.”
“Events like this draw people from all over Tasmania and interstate and provide a huge boost to our tourism and hospitality sectors,” Minister Howlett said.
“Sporting events not only drive economic benefit for local hotels, restaurants, and tourism operators, but also strengthen Tasmania’s identity as a destination known for excellence and industry expertise.
“I am thrilled Hobart will play host to the FIH Pro League and look forward to seeing the high standard of competition on show.”
Tasmania’s brother duo Joshua and Hayden Beltz say there’s no better feeling than playing the best on home soil in front of fans, family and friends.
Joshua Beltz said “To play the FIH Pro League in our home State of Tasmania against the best in the world is fantastic for Hayden & I. We know the locals will turn out in force to support us and all the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos players and we can’t wait.”
As well as weeks of top international competition and the chance to meet their heroes in green and gold, fans are encouraged to make the most of their visit by exploring the beauty of Tasmania, from its rugged coastlines to its vibrant local food scene and welcoming regional communities.
All matches will be played at the Aurora Energy Tasmanian Hockey Centre in Hobart, with all Hockeyroos and Kookaburras matches streamed LIVE and FREE on 7Plus.
