Talent Accelerator 2032 to fast-track Australia’s next generation towards Brisbane 2032
TA32 has one clear destination: developing world-class Australian athletes capable of delivering on the international stage at Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
Hockey Australia is set to launch Talent Accelerator (TA32), a targeted athlete development initiative designed to identify and accelerate the next generation of world-class Australian hockey talent on the road to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
With a clear focus on bridging the gap between top-eight international performance and winning medals, TA32 will provide identified athletes with individualised development opportunities and greater exposure to world-class environments.
TA32 is built around three key stages — identify potential, accelerate talent and deliver world-class athletes — with evidence-based athlete identification underpinning a pathway designed to fast-track development through innovation.
Running from 2026 through to 2028, TA32 will work alongside Hockey Australia’s existing National Athlete Pathway (NAPP) and high-performance programs.
Lead by the TA32 Technical Lead and through collaboration with key stakeholders, each athlete will receive an individualised plan, aligning performance and development across the different environments, ensuring individualised and tailored programs that maximise performance and development.
TA32 will extend beyond on-field performance, incorporating athlete identification and world-class profiling alongside targeted camps focused on skill acquisition, international immersion, self-awareness and leadership, with additional holistic support aimed at supporting personal growth.
The first phase of TA32 incorporated the 2026 World Cup, where Hockey Australia continued to refine its evidence base and world-class athlete profile.
Identified athletes have been engaged through September, with targeted athletes invited to interview between 7–11 September before the TA32 squad is confirmed on 21 September.
The first dedicated camp will be held at the South Australian Sports Institute from 27–30 November with a technical focus, before athletes are integrated with Australia’s national teams during the Pro League in February 2027, providing an opportunity to observe and experience world-class environments firsthand.
The program will continue throughout 2027, with individual athlete reviews at the U21 National Championships and technical projects integrated into NAPP.
