Gold Coast shines as the host for the 2026 Hockey One League finals and 2027 FIH Pro League series
The Gold Coast has been locked in as the host for the 2026 ONE Active Hockey One League Finals Series and the FIH Pro League in 2027.

The Gold Coast has officially been locked in as the host destination for the 2026 ONE Active Hockey One League Finals Series and a blockbuster home series of the FIH Pro League in 2027.
The investment marks the largest government investment into a home FIH Pro League series in Australian history.
The landmark partnership between Hockey Australia, Hockey One League, the Queensland Government, Gold Coast City Council and Hockey Queensland signals a bold new era for the sport, bringing world-class hockey to one of Australia’s most iconic destinations and supercharging the game’s momentum on the road to the 2032 Olympic Games.
From the nation’s best domestic talent to the world’s top international teams, the Gold Coast is set to become the home of hockey’s biggest moments in 2026/27, delivering a festival of elite sport, entertainment and unforgettable fan experiences.
The announcement represents a major statement of intent for hockey in Australia, positioning the sport to capitalise on the unprecedented opportunity leading into the 2032 Olympics while inspiring a new generation of players, fans and communities across Queensland and beyond.
In 2026, the Gold Coast will host the pinnacle event of the ONE Active Hockey One League season on December 5/6, with Australia’s premier domestic hockey competition bringing its biggest stars, fiercest rivalries and most electric atmosphere to the coast for a blockbuster Finals Series featuring the country’s best men’s and women’s teams.
The excitement will continue in 2027, when the Gold Coast welcomes an action-packed home series of the FIH Pro League, with the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras set to take on the world’s best nations on home soil in a spectacular showcase of international hockey.
The events will provide Australian fans with a rare opportunity to witness global hockey powerhouses live, while giving the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras a world-class platform as they continue building towards future international campaigns and ultimately the Olympic Games.
Hockey Australia CEO David Pryles said the announcement was a defining moment for the future of hockey in Australia.
“This is a landmark day for hockey in Australia and a major moment in the evolution of our sport,” Pryles said.
“To secure the biggest government investment into a home FIH Pro League series is an extraordinary vote of confidence in our sport, our athletes and the future of hockey in this country.
“As we build towards the 2032 Olympic Games, the legacy starts now. This partnership gives us the opportunity to inspire the next generation, connect with new audiences and create lasting impact for hockey communities right across Australia.
“The Gold Coast is one of the world’s great tourist and sporting destinations and provides an incredible stage to showcase the ONE Active Hockey One League, the Hockeyroos, the Kookaburras and the very best international hockey to fans from around the country and around the world.
“We cannot wait to bring the ONE Active Hockey One League Finals Series to the Gold Coast in 2026 before welcoming the world’s best nations for two massive blocks of FIH Pro League action in 2027.”
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the announcement highlighted the city’s long-term vision for hockey and major events.
“These milestone announcements underscore our city’s strong belief in the positive legacy outcomes which can flow from major sporting events,” Mayor Tate said.
“Since the GC2018 Commonwealth Games, the Gold Coast has worked hard to elevate its status as a premier hockey destination locally, nationally and internationally.
“Our vision is about creating venues and support services for all athletes, including those with mobility issues.
“I warmly welcome news of these exciting tournaments which will bring the very best athletes, officials, sponsors and technical staff together for a celebration of the sport. The countdown to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics is underway and now is the time to maximise every opportunity for hockey and our future Olympic and Paralympic representatives.”
Hockey One League Executive General Manager Sash Herceg said the Finals Series represented an exciting milestone for both the competition and hockey in Queensland.
“It is exciting to announce the Gold Coast as the location for the 2026 ONE Active Hockey One League Finals Series given Queensland has never hosted a Finals Series despite Brisbane Blaze being one of the most successful Hockey One clubs,” Herceg said.
“We look forward to working with all stakeholders to deliver a quality event and positively contribute to economic activity on the Gold Coast.”
The announcement further cements the Gold Coast’s reputation as a powerhouse destination for major events and reinforces hockey’s ambition to deliver bigger events, bigger audiences and bigger opportunities than ever before in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032.
