Hockey Australia is excited to announce the Hockeyroos squad for the 2026 FIH World Cup as the Hockeyroos chase a third World Cup title which will be played across Belgium and the Netherlands from 15-30 August.

The tournament will see the Hockeyroos based out of the Netherlands as they look to bring World Cup glory home in 2026. The Hockeyroos play the opening game of the World Cup against Japan and find themselves in Pool A alongside the Netherlands and Chile, with the top two teams progressing to Pool E.

The World Cup marks another opportunity for one of international hockey’s most successful nations to return to the top of the podium, with the Hockeyroos looking to better their bronze medal from the 2022 Hockey World Cup.

Head Coach Rhett Halkett said the selected squad had earned the opportunity to represent Australia on the sport’s biggest stage after a year full of challenges, growth and development.

Halkett said selecting the team had been one of the toughest decisions since taking charge of the national program.

“Selection for a World Cup is never easy because it represents the pinnacle of our sport. Every player who has represented the Hockeyroos this year has contributed to where we are today. I am very proud of how the squad have handled everything thrown at them this year.”

“This team has a well-balanced mix of experience and mature emerging talent. Throughout the year we’ve continued to challenge ourselves against the world’s best teams, and we’ve seen positive strides in both our performances and our belief.”

Halkett said the squad had embraced the challenge of building something of their own.

“One of the biggest strengths of this group is how open they have been to change. It has not always been easy for them, but they have remained connected as a team throughout every challenge. They’ve bought into what we’re trying to achieve, they compete hard for each other, and they’re incredibly driven to keep improving.”

“We know there are no easy games at a World Cup, but that’s what excites us. It’s an opportunity to showcase ourselves and the brand of hockey we want the Hockeyroos to be known for.”

The Hockeyroos secured their place at the World Cup by qualifying through the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup Qualifier earlier this year and will enter the tournament looking to build on the progress made throughout the 2026 international season.

The Hockeyroos will open their World Cup campaign in Amsterdam on August 15 when they face Japan in their first pool match of the tournament. Find the match schedule here.
