The Kookaburras have named a strong 24-man squad for Block 2 of the FIH Pro League in Hobart, following an impressive unbeaten opening campaign on home soil.

Australia enter the second block brimming with confidence after four straight wins in Block 1, securing victories over Pakistan and Germany in front of passionate Tasmanian crowds at the Aurora Energy Tasmanian Hockey Centre.

The Kookaburras opened their Pro League campaign with a hard-fought 3–2 win over Pakistan, before producing a clinical 3–0 performance against Germany. They backed it up with another commanding 3–0 win over Pakistan and closed the block with a gritty 3–2 triumph over Germany to complete a perfect four-from-four record.

Across the opening block, Australia showcased attacking firepower and defensive resilience, scoring 12 goals while conceding just four. The squad’s depth was on full display, with experienced leaders combining seamlessly with emerging talent to control tempo and execute in key moments.

Block 2 also presents a significant milestone moment for one of Australia’s modern greats, with Jeremy Hayward in line to play his 250th international match for the Kookaburras if selected in Friday night’s opener against Spain. Reaching the 250-game mark would further cement Hayward’s standing among Australia’s most accomplished internationals and underline his sustained excellence in the green and gold.

The momentum now shifts to Block 2, where the Kookaburras will face Spain in a highly anticipated double header in Hobart on 20 February to kick off the next stage of their Pro League campaign.

The upcoming matches against Spain present another crucial opportunity for the Kookaburras to consolidate their standing on the Pro League table as they continue building toward major international tournaments later this year.
