Hockey Australia Masters Announces Strategic Plan 2026–2028
Hockey Australia Masters is proud to unveil its new Strategic Plan 2026–2028, a clear roadmap for the future of Masters hockey in Australia.

Hockey Australia Masters is proud to unveil its new Strategic Plan 2026–2028, a clear roadmap for the future of Masters hockey in Australia. Developed by the Hockey Australia Masters Committee (HAMC), the plan sets out the priorities that will guide Masters hockey over the next three years.
The Strategic Plan sets a clear, considered direction for Masters hockey, shaped by insight and data from across the Masters community.
"This plan gives us a clear line of sight for the next two and a half years," said Nick Frayne, Hockey Australia. "It sets out what we're prioritising and why, and gives our Committee and Pillar Groups a shared reference point as we keep building Masters hockey."
Masters hockey in Australia is governed through the Hockey Australia Masters Committee (HAMC), which provides strategic oversight and works in close partnership with Hockey Australia. The HAMC operates through three Pillar Groups, each responsible for a distinct area of the Masters program: National Teams, which oversees selection, preparation and delivery of Masters representative programs, including Outdoor and Indoor World Cup and Trans-Tasman Challenge campaigns; Commercial & Growth, which drives participation, communications and commercial partnerships; and Events & Officiating, which helps deliver National Championships and supports the officiating community.
"This plan reflects the strength and maturity of our Committee structure," said HAMC Chair Matthew Trounce. "It gives us a shared framework across National Teams, Commercial & Growth, and Events & Officiating, and sets clear priorities for how we support our Masters community over the next three years."
The Strategic Plan is built around six strategic pillars, each with a clear set of priorities for 2026 (Foundation) and 2027–28 (Enhancement). Participation, Engagement & Communication focuses on growing participation and building a consistent communication rhythm with members. Governance strengthens HAMC's structure, roles and risk management. Commercial develops new partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to support the growth of Masters hockey. Financial Sustainability embeds a robust, transparent financial model and reporting rhythm. Representation & Performance improves selection processes and support for national teams and officials. And Events & Officiating reviews the Championships model to improve the experience for players, officials and volunteers.
Importantly, the plan is directly aligned to Hockey Australia's own Strategic Plan 2026–28, connecting Masters priorities to HA's broader goals of building a Resilient Hockey Enterprise, reaching One Million Customers, and being Consistently Top 3 on the world stage.
