The development of Hockey Australia’s brand-new High Performance Centre of Excellence is well underway, as the Western Australian Government unveiled the first of four state-of-the-art pitches and Australia's first look at the fly through of the world-class facility.
WA Deputy Premier and Minister for Sport and Recreation Rita Saffioti unveiled the new pitch, alongside the fly through and an additional $28 million, as redevelopment on the Centre gets well underway.
The new pitch boasts Polytan’s Poligras Platinum World Cup GT turf, the same surface that the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras will compete on at the 2026 World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium next year. Further redevelopment will include the installation of Polytan’s Poligras turf that has been exclusively developed for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
On completion, the brand-new centre will include four international hockey pitches, a specialist training facility, and an indoor hockey centre, with the major stadium to include seating up to 10,000 in event mode with modern broadcasting capabilities.
Predicted to be arguably the best hockey facility in the world, the WA Government’s $163 million investment will provide all-around support both for events and athletes both on and off the pitch. This includes sustainability features, unmatched technology, and a key focus on athlete wellbeing, assisting the Australian national men’s and women’s team’s ability to remain amongst the top rungs of the international hockey stage.
The purpose-built facility will remain Australia’s home of hockey for the next 18 years, after Hockey WA won the bid in December 2022.
Redevelopment of the High Performance Centre of Excellence is proudly supported by the Western Australian Government through DLGSC.
